As the weather starts to heat up, this is the bottle I'll be reaching for: Vitovska, a hardy variety that is indigenous to the Carso in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and has Slovenian origins. The wines sit for a year in old French oak barrels and another six months in stainless steel. The wine exudes a personality very unique to the region, with pleasant floral notes and aromas of dried grass and herbs.
